Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (رضئ الله تعالی عنه)

Ghousul Azam Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) is the towering personality among Awliya Allah. His most popular poetical work is 'Qaseedah Ghousia (قصیدہ غوثيه), written in Arabic, which describes his elevated state among Awliya Allah. It is reported that he wrote this Qaseedah in a state of spiritual elation. The entire Qaseedah describes special beneficence of Allah (عزّوجل) and His Apostle Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) upon him in a classic poetic way. He mentions about the secret knowledge that has been revealed to him by Allah (عزّوجل) about Him, His Attributes, Haqeeqat-e-Mohammadi (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), His creation and how the administration of this Cosmos is run. Shaikh Mir Asedullah Quadri has rendered this work into English for the benefit of English readers.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Shaikh Mohiuddin Abu Mohammad Abdul Qadir al-Jilani al-Ghawth al-Azam (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) was born in 470 AH (1077 CE) and died in 561 AH (1166 CE). Many scholars and Shuyook have written about the life and work of the Shaikh. He is widely known for his knowledge and practice, and for his meticulous attention to inner guidance. The Sufi Shuyookh of Ihsan and Islamic scholars are unanimous in declaring him worthy of the greatest honor and respect, and in confirming his authority among Awliya Allah. He has written many books and most of them have been rendered into English by Shaikh Mir Asedullah Quadri.
